Sochi Silver Medalist Launches App to Connect Explorers
U.S. Olympian, four-time Freestyle Ski World Champion, and Sochi Silver Medalist Gus Kenworthy has created an app that will connect people around their favorite places and experiences. Named Journey (http://www.producthunt.com/posts/journey-3), the app is the first of its kind to connect users on data points based on favorite places and experiences by matching similar location tags between users.
The app allows a Journey user in San Francisco to connect with someone else in San Francisco that has also skied in Lake Tahoe, or hiked in Yosemite, or even both. Likewise, a Journey user in Denver could find other users that live in Denver and ski in Telluride or Breckenridge.
Kenworthy is joined by an experienced team, including co-founder Alex Grappo, who has previous startup experience at Tesla, as well as by co-founder and CTO Tao who comes from IBM and Verisign, and by Roberto Quinn, former head of social media at TMZ. Journey’s advisory team includes several notable entrepreneurs including the former founding CTO of Spotify, Andreas Ehn, and former hotels.com President, Cheryl Rosner.
